In many cases, a predesigned floor plan can work as a great starting point. At ADU Homes, our goal is to design and build an ADU that meets ALL of your needs. Our in-house design team can work with you to create a design that meets your unique goals. Other custom ADU alternatives include the following possibilities:
ADU CARVE-OUT (Jr. ADU)
ADUs can be created by carving out space within your existing home to create the new ADU. The carve-out ADU has its own entrance, living, kitchen and sleeping areas.
Since the new ADU is being creating within existing permitted space, the city and impact fees are significantly less, and the permitting and construction time is often shorter than a building a new detached ADU. Corner lots are ideal for carve-out ADUs.
ADU ADDITION
Another option is to create a new ADU by adding on to your existing home. ADU additions can include studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom configurations depending on the size of the lot, the existing house size and lot configuration.
Like the carve-out ADU, the ADU addition would have its own entrance, kitchen and sleeping area. We have pre-designed several ADU addition options that we can customize to specific lot and home conditions saving you time and costs.
CUSTOM GARAGE CONVERSION
If your garage is undersized or you have a unique condition, we can help you evaluate design options to meet your needs. Possible customized options include adding on to your existing garage to enlarge the floor area or adding a sleeping loft.
BUILD YOUR ADU DESIGN
If you are already working with an architect to design your ADU or have your design completed, ADU Homes can build it for you. We can coordinate with your existing design team to expedite the plan check and permitting process and even get a jump on coordination with your utility providers.
